Research - Analysis of music video

The music video that i am going to be looking at Just Jack's song 'Starz in their eyes'

There are many techniques used in this music video such as jump cuts. An example if this is when Jack is wearing square sunglasses and they turn to heart shaped ones. Another example is when the skeletons are dancing. They change different positions. This is also similar to the man with the broom. He is brooming one sections and then jump to the next rather than us see him move from one spot to another.

Slow motions are also used in the video whilst the girls are fighting, fireworks, tomato being thrown at the guy and a women falling.

Furthermore, obvious edits have also been used like fades, a scene with another scene on top (Jacks face) and a mirror effect used on a girl.

The camera also moves in time with the music for instance the camera zooms when the music speeds up.

Jack also makes eye-contact with the camera when he is singing, these are usually used during base tracks when the singer is singing to the audience. Many music video's involve this. This also involves repeated shots of the artist singing such as when Jack is singing in the hallway.

Editing in time with the beat of the song is used whilst the people are lined up, camera cuts with the beat to a close up of different people. Whilst Jack turns his head it also cuts with the beat.
