QUESTION 4.

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK.

When we went to the cinemas to watch the music videos, our video had a very positive reaction in the audience. i think this because our song was a popular song - fairly recent too. But also because there was a slight competitive vibe because there was another group that had the same song as us.

Potential changes and improvements would be that we should have been more organised with the people we had because most of them was VERY unreliable (N),  we had to get masses of work done in such a short amount of time which really did stress us out, however as a group we did work well.

Improvements would be that we should have stuck to our original plans, because we had to change a lot of things around because we either didn't get the right shots or someone or something was missing or something went wrong. We had also taken SOOO such footage that we didn't even use.

i have learnt that popular songs engage people into a video more, than a song no one knows because people are not familiar with the artist or the music.

I have also learnt people expected a lot from us because the original was excellent so we had to live up to that expectation and also because another group had the same song so the pressure was on! But because of the good reaction it was a sigh of relief, even though we could have broken and used more conventions to better our video we did our best!

QUESTION 2.

HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN PRODUCT ( VIDEO) AND YOUR ANCILLARY TEXTS? (DIGIPAK & ADVERTISMENT)

I think that my ancillary work and my video fairly well together. In our music video we had a variety of backgrounds which goes well with our "space" theme because we mostly filmed in the dark and we had bright effective colours in the dark too.

this is my digipak cover , this compliments the filming we have done in the dark and the colours of the water in Granary

The audience will have a clear understanding of the connection between my digipak and my video because of my star and the way theme is set out and the colours and ect.

i think the audience maybe attracted to my digipak because it is colourful and eyecatching .

My ancillary work is fairly okay, however i do honestly think i could haver done way better.

Target Audience

the target audience for this music video - Wonderful - Angel would ideally be females - Teenage Females because our artist is a male - attractive who is young and down to earth so he can interact with he's fan's.

The age range is from 14/15 - 22/23 so even young adults (females) would be attracted to our Artist.
The reason why i have picked the age 14 is because younger generations often listen to these types of music and enjoy it a lot because its upbeat and somehow they think they can relate to it.
the reason why i have picked 23 to be the latest age is because you are still young, still maturing but will be into these types of music. - People over the age of 23 can listen to this but maybe quite busy to relate to the message in the song.

Our wider audience would be 24+, and the boys would be wider audience because not a lot of boys will like the Artists because i personally think its a boys thing of not liking another boy calling him 'gay' and what not. However, there could be a neiche audience from the boys category that may like our music and there can be boys who could relate to our Artists because (as said before) our artist is down to earth, interacts with the audience and fans. But also the bands and things he wears could make boys relate to him, e.g vans, designer clothing, hollister tops. Our Artist isnt all materialistic so he can portray a typical London young Adult, shopping in Newlook, H&M , - Affordable clothing form Primark ect.

Our target audience may also like and relate to he's favourite food, what he might eat, hes favourite restaurants

PLANNING- Pitch

Pitch
During the lesson we were given time to prepare for our pitch, the pitch allowed us to get together all of the information and present it to the class as well as 4 other teachers. The pitch was important as we included the locations, artists and props which we will be using when filming our music video. The pitch gave us the time to reflect upon what we were going to in preparation for filming. When researching as well as planning there were 2 main aspects we had to consider as shown:
Location: There were many locations where some members of the group went to visit this was vital as we needed to know where they were and weather they were suitable and ideal for when we film
When visiting our location such as brick lane (graffiti) we found out that the image we wanted was painted so we therefore had to pick another location as this was no longer useful to us.
Props: We also went out and researched the props we needed such as glowing sticks, cloths etc

Here are some images we gathered on our day out (weekend)
Above we took images of clothes our artist would most probably wear, casual clothing such as trousers, checked shirt, trainers etc. We also took pictures of what the female would wear during the party scene which would include a party dress as well as high heels. (our female audience would also like these clothes) We went into shops such as Topshop, H&M, Newlook, Topshop and also JD

Here are some images we gathered in Granary Square both the water fountain and the bridge scene where we are planning to play cards with a group of people. We thought this would be a good idea as it is spacious and also clean.

Here we have put up our pitch we presented to the class

PLANNING- Test shots of Performer

Test shots of Performer
As shown around the page here are some shots of our potential performer 'montelle'. We have gathered many images to show in many ways how he will differ from the original artist. As shown the performer will wear casual clothing such as jeans, trainers, hat and a jacket.
When collecting images of our potential artist it was useful as we were able to use the research we gathered from the similar artist, this was easy as the styles of our performer were very similar relating to our target audience clearly.

PLANNING - Animatic

Animatic
Above is shown to be the animatic which we created as a group. During the lesson we were given toys to make our animatic seem more real and used this to create a storyboard. The storyboard draft was what we used to create our animatic as it set out a clear outline of the shots we needed to include. Once we finished taking the shots for our animatic we uploaded it onto final cut adding the sound and then converting the file and putting it on blogger.

Overall as a group we found this task interesting as we were able to experiment with the toys creating our main artist. It was also a nice way to see our ideas come together as a whole and see what it looked like and what we could improve on.

PLANNING -Audience Research

Audience Research
During the lesson we gathered research linked to our audience, doing this allowed us to see their opinions on the song and what they will like to see in the remake of it. We got research from both genders to see the different views they have. All the information which we collected was very useful as we were able to generate ideas from the views which where put forward. Most ideas that were said by the viewers were similar to what we wanted to include in our music video which was good as this is what we wanted the viewers to feel.

We recorded some responses as indicated below:

PLANNING- Draft Story Board

PLANNING- Draft Story Board
During lesson and in our spare time we did a story board to clearly examine what we kinds of footage we will be filming. A storyboard is seen to be essential when doing any filming as it gets you prepared and organised, it also enables you to refer back to it whenever you need it and remember your ideas. A storyboard is one way which helps us put all our ideas down so we won't forget preparing us for when we will film the footage.
Below we have taken some footage of our story board using images and text to clearly represent what is going on.
We have briefly illustrated our story board on a movie as shown below
We have picked out certain shots which are interesting to film as they are new and we haven't used the green screen as illustrated below.

PLANNING Mood board

Mood board
In lesson we had created a mood board to illustrate the brand image of our artists. We had gathered images which interest our audience which include magazines, make up, social networking etc.
We had created our mood board on camtasia this was a new software which as a group we did not use before but when using it was very straight forward.

Carol Vernallis Summary

Vernallis experiencing music video: Aesthetics and cultural context.

Vernallis studied editing and camerawork closet in the music videos. She observed that edits in music videos come much more frequently than in film. that many stand out as disjuncture and that the editing seems to have a rhythmic basis closely connected to the song.

she observed that the usual rules of "continuing" editing ( editing usually found in classic broadcast fiction) are broken in order to draw attention to what is on screen.

Edits maybe really obvious to draw attention to themselves, such as wipes and special effects and animations.  - Jump cuts are also often used.

A master shot (base track) is frequently used to give the video a structure

the camera may move in time with the music

Star's in their eyes is a perfect Vernallis example because throughout this whole video there is obvious edits, rapid fast edits, wipes, special effects.

obvious edit of the film strip and then the blur of the woman coming in

the bright light in the background

the visual word of 'SPOTLIGHT' in the background

the fire ring,

This music video is FILLED up with obvious edits, from the start to the end, some of the examples above are just a few of the many that the video contained to keep the audience engaged.

PLANNING - Location research

Location research

In todays lesson as a group we were picking locations for our music video. During this task we were able to think outside the box in the locations we would like to use. Below is a video showing us discussing as a group what locations would suit our song best.
Overall this task was useful for us to find potential hotspots for our music video.

RESEARCH/ PLANNING-Copy-right clearance

Copy-right clearance
When we finally picked our song choice for our music video we had to write up a clearance letter to the artist to ask permission in using the song we had chosen

RESEARCH- Reflection on progress

Reflection on progress
Using camtasia as a group we did a screen recording of our progress on our blogs so far. In this we were able to discuss our favourite blogs and why in particular we liked them. We also as a group were able to think what we could do in order to improve our blogs taking the feedback in which we were given by the teachers. Doing a screen recording as you can see we were able to talk as well as indicate clearly the information provided on the blog making it clear when you see it what we are saying is indicated to.
The reflection on progress is a good way for us as a group to see our blogs and discuss what we think are good about them and what we can do in future for us to get the best possible grade such as adding screen grabs of the shots used rather than just embedding the video.

Last years favourite video

Shortlist of Potential Music videos.

Tulisa - Young

Our group thought that Tulisa young could be a good representation of young people and its a fast paced song so it would be good for us to use, the lyrics can be meaningful for people our age and the target audience would be very good for this song for us.

Girly night ( PROMOTING BARRY M)

Focus on the Artist
The screenshots above have shown a little taste of this potential song
for our remake of a music video, its fun, in our time - even though society will frown apon most of the things in this video people in our generation will understand, love and relate to this song.

Despite all the fun menic and mischief everyone got up too in the video Tulisa also had time for a Girly night getting dressed and promoting items e.g Barry M , and obviously she is the artist so the video is focusing mostly on her.
