3 music videos that have influenced

The first music video i will be looking at is 'Rock star' by Dappy. Dappy is an artist who usually does rap or hip hop songs however with this song i feel the is a rock vibe to it just like the song we have chosen. The song is fasts with a drumming beat similar to 'Wonderful'.

Carol Vernallis' theory of editing and camera work go really well with this music video. The editing in the video is very fast including a lot of jump cuts, quick cuts, fast forwards, blurs and scene on scenes. These obvious styles of editing run through the whole video. The camerawork and framework are also fit in with the theory. Though out a lot of the music video the camera moves in time with the music (examples at 0:14 and 0:20). A variety of shot types are also used.

Ideas that i have collected from this video and looking to use in my own are the fast cuts that go with the beat, the variety of angle shots used and the scene on scene effect.

The second video i will be looking at is Rita Ora's 'How we do'. This is very up beat party song which i think go well with the fast up beat part of 'Wonderful'. This song also has a good drum beat.

This video also follows Carol Vernallis' theory of editing. When the chorus comes the editing begins to get faster to go with the music. Quick cuts, jump cuts, fast forwards and zooms are used. A lot of these fast edits are used at 2:47. The camera movements and framework used are quick. The camera moves with the music very often (2:55-3:15). The shots used are varied mainly focusing on the singer. There are a lot of close ups of her and zooms of her.
I also like the edited effect used at the end of the video (3:02) with the group of people partying. The colours are changed and it almost looks like the some of the scene and the clothes people are wearing are glowing

The third video i am going to look at is 'Home Run' by Misha B. This is a fast song with many fast edits. I think that this type of video will fit in with Goodwins Disjuncture structure of a music video.

Following Vernallis' theory the editing is very fast paste. A lot of dance is used in this video. The edits used are quick cuts, jump cuts, slow motion, split screen and zooms.
At 0:26 i like the edit used where she is shown and then on the beat you cannot see her clothes but only her figure. The camera movement and frame work is focused mainly on the singer, using a variety of shots on her. The camera doesn't really move with the music like it does in the other videos.

The ideas i have gathered from analysing this video the quick cuts and the way it shows the singer in a shadow. Also as well how throughout the video it focuses on the singer.
