EDIT- Skills development
From the first year of AS our editing skills have developed dramatically, from the first year we have been able to do basic editing such as adding simple cuts and transitions to scenes. From progressing onto the A2 course we have now been able to change the green screen to a still image behind the object which in this case is the main performer. Still images included stuff like graffiti stars and also art abstracts which linked with the words beautiful and wonderful. Green screen: When doing this we had to use final cut we selected the colour we wanted to change the green screen to which was black and then we had dragged the curser till the green background from the green screen had disappeared once the colour green had disappeared we then rendered it using cmd shit 4 making the clip play smoothly. From the first year rendering clips was one aspect which we were used to when editing but using and changing the green screen to a black background to insert a background / still image we wanted was an idea which we developed onto the second year which i though was interesting and fun to experiment with.
Markers:Through this year we had also learnt how to add markers which in the first year we didn't know how to use. Markers were used to clearly put forward the parts which the beat had dropped so for example even 2 seconds. The markers are used to help us when we are ready to place the clips onto final cut allowing us to see which beat matches each clip. Markers were a great help as with them we were clearly able to see the beats matching the clips making it easier to drag them into place as well as adding more to place which we needed. Remembering to render all footage was important as we learnt in the first year as without rendering the clips which we have inserted won't play clearly. When changing around the clips to the places we wanted some of them moved around as again in the first year to sercure these we had to lock the clips into place and drag them into the places we wanted then un locking them to continue editing making sure we saved as we went along.
Synchronising voice to music video: This was also another skill which i had learnt this enabled me to get the sync of our performers voice in time with the actual video this was important to get right as if it wasn't the video would of been out of sync and looked very unrealistic.
Base tracks: Filming base tracks was something new, something in which we hadn't filmed before. Unlike the first year of editing we placed random shots which we filmed onto the time line however this year we got one main track and used this throughout with a variety of cuts between but always referring back to the base track.

Overall my skills development of editing in the second year has improved as i am now able to experiment with final cut and edit more clearly. I was able to add markers, import clips and also add green screen effects behind the main performer
Below are some ideas of what i have learnt though the editing process
