RESEARCH- Technical skills learned through AS

Technical skills learned through AS

Throughout the AS year i have learned various skills to the extent where i was able to apply all knowledge to the work. Set below are examples of the softwares that were needed in the AS year and how they helped me progress onto the A2 course. Final cut pro was a software used in the AS year where i learnt the skills which helped me create my thriller.

Learning how to use Final Cut Pro- Final cut was a programme that i used through the clips which i had filmed and then edited on this programme. This programme aloud me to put clips together which was used in my AS thriller project. I also learnt how to use the special affects such as split screen and changing the colour of my video such as making it gloomy to create a more natural scary effect. By changing some of my video from a natural effect to a gloomy effect i was able to feel the mood set when watching it back which was very interesting to do. This was a very useful technique that i enjoyed playing around with. The effects which i also used were blurs jump cuts which made this more exciting for the viewers.
Above i have indicated the different aspects of final cut pro which were very useful.
Sound track pro- This was another software used, this is where we learnt how to create sound. Playing around with soundtrack pro was fun and interesting as i got to match up the different sound effects in which were needed for our thriller such as when the charecter was hit with the bat the sound we made was a bang sound to reinforce the action which took place.
Learning how to use the camera was an important skill which improved over time. I was able to experiment with the different shot whilst filming both on and of the tripod. Using the tripod allowed me to do shots such as over the shoulder shot, the tripod also made the shots i was filming clear and straight. The 180 degree rule also improved over time as it aloud me to keep within the surface whilst filming.

When using the camera i had to make sure that i took into consideration the 180 degree rule as this was important when filming most shots.

Blogger was also another skill which enabled me to upload a films from youtube and also upload pictures and presentation of my experiences whilst doing the group thriller such as the software Voila. Blogger was also used to store all my research and planning. It was also helpful as i was able to go back and see the research i did to help me when needing ideas later on.

More points are as followed:
Flip cameras to record data and can be uploaded straight on Macs, also being able to connect the video drive in order to save footage and preview when completed.

Using Final cut to add different transitions to make it more effective for the viewer such as fade in fade outs.
